Mannequin Manifesto

We visited a huge used mannequin warehouse over the weekend, which believe it or not was even creepier than it sounds. I had wishfully imagined it might be something like the cover of this Roxy Music album that has been hanging on my wall for years and must have seeped into my subconscious. In reality it was nothing like it at all, but if I had a bunch of retro mannequins at my disposal, this is exactly how I'd style them.

It also got me thinking about how gorgeous ALL the Roxy Music album covers are. Dark, glam and oozing sexyness, much like their music.

Recognize iconic model Jerry Hall as the blue mermaid on the cover of Siren? She and lead singer Bryan Ferry met while shooting the album cover and were engaged for several years before she left him for Mick Jagger in 1977. Hall also appears in the videos for The Price of Love and Let's Stick Together.

It seems Ferry still runs with the fashion crowd all these years later - his band played the after-party for Chanel's Resort 2012 show in France last May.
