Unlikely style icon: 90s Nancy Drew

We all know how cool the Nancy Drew from the old hardcover series was. From the 1930s through the 60s she was solving mysteries and looking amazing in her perfect reflection of whatever was the fashion du-jour. As I kid I read every one I could get my hands on and wanted to grow up to be her, as I'm sure we all did. But that's not the Nancy Drew I want to talk about...

Do you remember when they briefly re-vamped the books in the late 80s and early 90s in a paperback series called The Nancy Drew Files??? I had completely forgotten about it, until I saw these covers and suddenly vividly remembered devouring EVERY SINGLE ONE. The pre-teen me thought that 90s Nancy Drew was THE COOLEST EVER and wanted more than anything to look like THIS:

(the Twin Towers!) 

There was always a crush-worthy guy standing behind her on the cover. Total 90s babes. I wish I still had my collection. She may be my favourite unlikely-style-icon yet, I actually want all of these outfits.
