Back to School and Back in Time

Today marks the start of the fall season and is the official back-to-school day for many people. In honor of this, we decided to look back at what the well-heeled were wearing as they headed into September all the way back in 1994. To us 1994 didn't really seem that long ago, until we started flipping through the pages of our trusty ELLE September '94 issue. Some of the editorials and ads look remarkably fresh while others just look completely dated and ridiculous (ahem, Chloe). We love taking a step back in time and looking at what was happening in fashion back then from today's perspective. In this issue we are advised to look out for a hot new show coming this fall called Friends, Isabella Rossellini was the face of Lancome, the designer du-jour was Isaac Mizrahi and Kate Moss was still a new face. There are cigarette ads throughout, including models smoking in the editorials and almost every model has short hair.

Oh, how the times have changed.
