The best 80s style from the original Wet Hot American Summer

It's here. The day we've been waiting for all summer long. Wet Hot American Summer, The First Day of Camp premieres on Netflix THIS FRIDAY.  I KNOW. Breathe, everybody. In the meantime, like everyone else, we've re-visited the original film as a means to get even MORE excited about the upcoming binge-watching event of the summer. 

Aside from being astouded by how little the cast has aged in 14 years (it's actually creepy, some of them even look younger), what struck us the most this viewing was the incredible attention to detail in the wardrobe department. As anyone who actually remembers summer camp in the 80s can tell you, they seriously nailed it. 

Here are a few of our favourite 80s style details from the OG WHAS. We cannot wait to see how they've styled the Netflix series. Guys, it's gonna be ah-maaa-zing. 

The Glasses. Oversized, ridiculous 80s frames just like your Dad used to wear. Perfection. 

The Polo Shirts. Extra points for the pastel colours and popped collars. 

Shell necklaces & bracelets. You had one too, remember? 

The pins and patches. We want all of these now. 

The sweatbands.  Jane Fonda called... 

The tube socks. Pair with vintage Nikes and crush it, Coup.

 Hot pink everything. Including denim. The ultimate 80s hot-girl colour palate. 

Crop tops for men. Steve Saunders would be proud.

The barrettes.  On adults. 

And finally, those life jackets. Never, never forget what it was like to sit in a canoe wearing one of those permanently damp, semi-mildewy, way-too-big-for-you 80s life jackets. Camp was the best.

Can it just be Friday already??
